The launch kicked off with an introduction to "A Common Machine Translation Post-Editing Protocol," a handbook summarizing previous insights and setting the stage for future discussions.
The new edition comprises eight monthly calls from October 2023 to May 2024, each focusing on specific aspects of AI in translation. Its main goal is to address key questions about the intersection of AI technologies and traditional translation methods. Key stakeholders—including Language Service Providers (LSPs), buyers, academic institutions, and post-editors—all play crucial roles in shaping translation's future.
The initial focus is on understanding the fundamental concepts underlying these technologies. Neural Machine Translation—a technology using neural networks to enhance translation accuracy and fluency—forms the backbone of modern translation practices.
