Introduction

As part of the research conducted by Plaza (2019), an analysis of different Master's degrees in the European Master's in Translation (EMT) network was carried out with the purpose of examining whether the topic of MTPE is included in syllabuses and with what degree of specialization. Through a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats), the author aimed at identifying internal and external factors that could be influencing the teaching of post-editing and machine translation in the EMT network.

This SWOT analysis was presented at the SIG as an academic basis for exploring the current state of the MTPE training from the 4 main points of view (Clients, LSPs, Academia and Post-editors):

In order to learn more about the current situation of post-editing training, a series of polls were launched within each subgroup. Each poll was adapted to each specific subgroup. The answers were used to trigger the discussion, and the conclusions are presented below.

Academic members were presented a poll investigating at what level subjects relevant to post-editing should be included: undergraduate, post-graduate or not included at all (the percentage of respondents is displayed next to each answer).
